Dudley is on vacation already.

At 1:00 today, I handed Dudley over to Dawn, his first mommy, so that she can take care of him while we are away.  Dawn lives about two and a half hours from us, so we met in the middle and made the exchange.

I miss the little schmoopy already! :(

He will stay with Dawn until March 14th or so when I will go back to pick him up.

We leave very early on Friday morning to drive to Buffalo.  Our flight leaves at 7:00 am, so we will leave here at about 2:00 am...gonna be a looooong day Friday!!!

I'm heading out to an Oscar party first one ever.  Should be lots of fun!

I hope you've all had a great weekend!

Five Question Friday!

Even though this week was a short one, with Family Day on Monday, it seems to have lasted a lifetime!

I'm glad it's almost the weekend so that I can tidy up my house and get some laundry done!  Would you believe I still haven't unpacked my suitcase nor Boy Oneder's suitcase from our road trip last weekend?!  UGH!

Anyway, to get the weekend going, let's play some Five Question Friday, courtesy of Mama M!  If you want to play along, head on over and link up!

Here are this week's questions:

1. What is a hobby you would love to learn and why?

I would love to learn to sew.  I know the basics, thanks to Home Ec class in high school, but that training was many, many years ago and I'd love to make some clothes.  I may just take some classes if I ever get the time.

2. What do you wish you could have delivered to your house but does not deliver?

Tim Horton's.  I would have an endless IV of their coffee if it were possible.
3. What's your favorite snow day activity? Inside and out?

I don't "do" outdoors in winter.  I HATE WINTER.  Although, I must admit, a few years ago, we took the older boys snow tubing up north and that was a blast!  I like going down the hill, but the main reason (besides the cold) that I don't go sledding with the kids is that dreaded schlep back up the hill.  With tubing, there is a lift that pulls you up the hill!  SWEET!  I still hate the outdoors in winter though!  For indoors, I like curling up on the couch in front of our fire, with some candles burning and my Ipad in hand.

4. Would you meet a stranger from an Internet dating site?

I don't think so.  I thank God that I don't have to date in this day and age.  It's so different than when we were young, where people actually SPOKE to one another and met in PERSON.  There are some strange dudes in this world and I think I would rather be alone than have to go and meet some of them.

5. If you had to spend 35 hours in a car with 4 other people, who would you choose?

I know that's only one person, but she's the only one I would need with me.  She makes me laugh and she has the BEST hugs in the world. <3>
Have a fantastic weekend!

Road trip!!!!

Boy Oneder and I went on a road trip this past weekend. Hubster was supposed to go with him to Montreal for a hockey tournament, but because Hubster had been so sick after the San Diego sales conference, he asked me if I would go.  Hell yeah!!!  A road trip with my firstborn and the greatest bunch of 16 year old and their parents to Montreal?!  Count me in!

We left at 7:00 on Thursday night from a kiss and ride about ten minutes from here.  It was a long ride and the weather was pretty nasty through Trenton, but we arrived at the hotel at about 2:00 am. But the time we checked in and settled into our room, it was close to 3:00.

I had arranged to work from our Montreal office on Friday...I really wanted to take the opportunity to see the office and meet with some of my folks, so that meant a wake up call for me at 6:30. Yep...3.5 hours of sleep...BROKEN sleep thanks to typical hotel noise. Needless to say, it was Avery long and sleepy day. But, I loved it. I spent some time with my colleague and met lots of our Montreal employees. We had St. Hubert for lunch too!!!!

The boys played a game at 2:45, which I obviously missed, but they lost so I'm glad I missed it to be honest.  It was apparently a very rough game and I'm glad I didn't have to stress through the entire game!

I left the office at 5:00 and went to the hotel to lie down for an hour. We hooked up with the team in the lobby at 6:30 and walked to the restaurant...Guido and Angelina's. AWESOME restaurant!  The food was amazing and I loved the atmosphere!  After dinner, we made our way back to the hotel and hung out in one of the parents' rooms. A few drinks later, I was in bed by about 1:30.

We got up at about 9:00 the next morning and had a nice buffet breakfast. Our first game was at 1:30 and we won. A couple of the moms and I headed to St. Joseph's Oratory (google it...its amazing!). Some of the dads went to Schwartz's for a late lunch and the team went back to the hotel to hang out sans parents.

Our next game was at 9:00 and they won again!

We headed back to the hotel to celebrate and after a long, awesome chat with one of the moms, I headed to be at 1:30.

We were up at 8:00 for the consolation final at 11:00.  It was 0-0 after three 12 minute periods, so we went into five minutes of overtime, four on four. Still no score. Penalty shots wer next and after EIGHT shots, North York scored. We missed on our shot and because the shots were sudden death, we lost. It hurt to lose, but both teams were amazing and the win was well deserved. Awesome game.

We started to watch Ajax get their butts handed to them and cheered louder than even the parents of the Perth team!  So much fun!  Then, we were off. We arrived home at about 6:30 and I was in bed by 9:00.

What an awesomely fantastic weekend!!!!

I considered shutting down my blog and making it private.

But I had a change of heart.

My blog is my heart. And I will share my heart with all of the faithful readers who have been with me over the years.

Sorry I was MIA for the last little while, but I'm back.  A new post will hopefully be up tomorrow.

Thanks for sticking around. :) Pin It

Five Question Friday!

We are in the midst of a major winter storm today, so I am working from home.  Threepeat will go to daycare (it's in our subdivision) and Middleman goes to the school behind our house, so he will go to school, but Boy Oneder can't get to school (buses were cancelled and there ain't no way this mama is heading all the way out to his school) so he is in bed, sound asleep.

I'm praying that Hubster's flight home from San Diego won't be cancelled this afternoon!!

Anyway, to get my mind off the weather, I'm going to answer this week's questions on  Mama M's Five Question Friday:

1. What holiday do you wish did not exist?

What?  None of them!  Any holiday is a good holiday!!!!

2. What is your favorite romance/love movie?

I do love Titanic...that's my ultimate fav...I've seen it 3,753,982 times or so.

3. Do you make a big production out of celebrating Valentine's Day?

Nope.  I'm happy with a card, but rarely, if I get REALLY lucky, Hubster buys me a bouquet of flowers.  Let's see what happens this yesr.  I usually get him a card and some O'Henry bars...his fav :)

4. What is something weird you did as a child? (or even now!)

I have so many little weird things that I did/do, but for the life of me I can't think of one now!  Honestly...this is bad.  Ummm.....oh here's one....when I was little, I was mad at my parents for not giving me a middle name, when all my friends had one.  Never mind that their middle names were like Gertrude and Penelope...they had middle names and that was cool!  So, I made mine up...but I had week it was Amy, then Kelly, Karen, Laura, Elizabeth to name a few.  I even wrote my full name: Dawn Amy **** on top of my school work.  Yeah...I'm a weirdo.

5. What makes you love your husband, really LOVE him, you know since Valentines is coming up?

I love that he is a patient man who loves us and does what he thinks is right for us.  I love that he coaches our boys in their sports and works hard to provide for us.  <3> Pin It

Thankful Thursday

Hubster has been in San Diego since Monday morning, essentially leaving me a single mother.

He comes home tomorrow, God willing (there's a DOOZY of a storm headed our way tonight and I'm praying it won't delay his flight tomorrow).  But, during this week, I have renewed respect for single parents...I've always marvelled at how one parent can handle it all, but this week really made me realize how tough it is.

Boy Oneder is self-sufficient in the mornings.  He gets up on his own, showers, makes his breakfast and gets ready all by himself.  I just make his lunch for him.

Middleman is also self-sufficient, save for his lunch.

Threepeat is a DISASTER in the mornings.  He is SO like his Dad in that he is NOT a morning person.  He likes his bed, that's for sure.  He needs to be poked, prodded, begged and yelled at to wake up.  I finally get him downstairs and he promptly falls asleep on the couch.  GAH!

Since I started my new job, I have to be in the office each day...the commute is about half an hour and I like to be in by 8:00-8:30 so that I can get out a little early to begin the evening routine.  Hubster takes care of getting Threepeat out to school in the morning.  I get him all ready, fed and packed up, but Hubster gets him out.  This week, I had to do it.  Wake him up, feed him breakfast, make all the lunches, give Threepeat his clothes, shower myself, get all my stuff ready to go and then get him off to school.  I get to work around 9:00 because school starts at 8:30, which means he's not out until 8:15.

I work all day and when Hubster is home, I leave around 4:30-5:00.  This week, I have been leaving at 4:00 because I need to ensure I am home to get supper done early enough to get to our other extracurriculars!

Home at 5:15, cook dinner, help Threepeat with homework, soccer practice (or physio), laundry, tidy up, pick up Boy Oneder from his girlfriend's house, shower Threepeat, go to bed.

I'm REALLY looking forward to having my Hubster back.  Not gonna lie, I miss having him around!  :) Pin It

Five Question Friday!

What a busy week!  It took a long time to get here, but...

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, that means it's time for Five Question Friday, brought to us by the lovely Mama M!

This week's questions are fun ones!

1. What is your favorite book to read with your kids?

I love Robert Munsch.  But I have to admit, that I am a bad, bad mother with Threepeat.  With all the stuff our family has going on: soccer, hockey, hockey lessons, birthday parties, work....there is very little time left over.  I don't read to Threepeat even half as much as I should and I live with guilt about it all the time.  We just simply are never home, and when we are, we are busy rushing around to get to some appointment!  But with Boy Oneder and Middleman, Robetr Munsch books were our favourites!
2. After having kids, what body part has changed the most?

My boobs!  When I got married, I was an A MINUS cup.  I mean these babies were concave!  I had to have my bra stuffed and had a special decal sewn into the neckline because I had literally NO BREASTS!  After having the boys, my girls just grew and grew!  I am now a D cup.  Unfortunately, my belly grew with my boobs and now, I have TWO sets of boobs.  I hate that.

3. Would you ever go back to college? What would you study?

I would never go back to college.  I learn enough every single day at work.  I can't even imagine going to school and having to study and do tests again {shudder!}

4. How do you close a phone call? Bye, bye bye or other?

"OK bye!" - boring, I know.
5. What is the one food that will always be your "cheat food" on a diet?

Diet?  What's that?  I gave up on diets years ago.  However, if I ever diet again, I will not give up my wine.  I'd rather starve and drink wine than give up my one thing that keeps me sane! ;)
