Running on empty

Oh.my.goodness. I am tired.

Threepeat has strep throat so last night was full of high fevers (103 degrees) for Threepeat and anxiety and sleeplessness on my part.  I think I slept a total of about an hour (in broken, ten minute intervals).  And today, I am feeling the pain.

It all started around bedtime last night.  Threepeat asked me for a hug and when I squeezed him, he was on FIRE.  A check of his temperature showed a reading of 102.7.  Wow.  There were no other symptoms other than the fact that he slept in until 9:30 Sunday and the fact that he ate very little for dinner.  He was otherwise perfectly fine.  I put him to bed last night all dosed up with Advil and he woke again at 5:00 am.  I laid awake all night worrying about him, of course.  I gave him more Advil and the thermometer showed 103 degrees.  Sigh...

Back to bed...he fell asleep right away, I was up for the day...though I laid in bed, begging God to let me sleep.  No such luck.

He woke up at 8:30, feeling cool, so I didn't even check his temp.  He ate two bites of cereal and then slowly got more and more quiet, lethargic and whiny.  He started to whimper that he was going to throw up so I checked his temp...102.4 .  I also looked at his throat and it was covered in red splotches.  I tried to get him to take Advil but he kept saying he was going to throw up, so I figured it was best not to upset his tummy with Advil and made the quick decision to take him over to the walk-in.  When we left the house, he was shivering and covered in goose bumps.  The nurse at the walk-in happens to be my neighbour, so she gave me a sample sized Advil and he took a dose.  TWO HOURS later, the doctor gave us the diagnosis of strep throat based on all his symptoms, but took a swab to confirm.  She prescribed amoxicyllin and we were on our way.

I filled his prescription while my Mom watched him and made him some chicken noodle soup.  He ate about half of it and then wanted cookies, so he had a couple of chocolate chip cookies.  We gave him a dose of the antibiotics and since the fever was down, he was feeling much better.

I SO hate when my babies are sick.  I am so tired that my eyes are burning.  Looking forward to bedtime tonight.  :( Pin It
