Another disappointing soccer tournament

We headed up to Collingwood for Middleman's team's soccer tourney this weekend.  As you all know, Middleman couldn't play due to his torn groin, but Hubster and I are all about committment to the team and so, we sucked it up and went up for the weekend, simply to support the team.  The weather was calling for 80% rain all day Saturday and I'm not gonna lie, I was second-guessing our decision to go, only to sit in the rain when our kid couldn't even play!  But, God gave us a fabulous weekend with sunshine and hot temperatures!  The weather was amazing!

We left late because Hubster had to work late getting a proposal out, and were in the car at about 7:00 pm Friday.  It is usually an hour and a half drive, so we ended up arriving at the Mountain Springs Resort at about 9:00, after a stop at Tim Horton's and some cottage country traffic snags.  We got checked in and headed up to unit 415.  Let's just say this place is not as lovely as the name sounds.  It was very, ummm, rustic...yeah that's it...rustic.  LOL  Princess Hubster was not amused.  He is a 5 star princess ALL the way!

We settled in and headed down to the pool to meet up with the team.  We hung out for about half an hour before turning in.  Our first game was at 9:45 on Saturday, so the boys needed a good night's sleep.

The boys started out strong in their first game against the Flamborough Flames.  The first half was very well played.  Then the second half arrived and it all went downhill from there.  We ended with a 2-0 loss.

We headed back to the resort and the kids had a swim before everyone went off for lunch.  Hubster, the boys and I went to Montana's and pigged out.

Our next game was at 2:45 versus Erin Mills White.  There were 4 boys on that team who we are sure were older...one of them had a FULL beard.  Their players cards were checked, but it seemed a little fishy that these four boys' cards were JUST created this week.  Shady indeed.  They were VERY tall and VERY strong.  We ended up tying 2-2.

The next game was in the adjacent field at 5:15, so there really wasn't time to go anywhere else.  We pitched our chairs and watched a girls' game, which was a really exciting one.

Our game was next, against Lake Simcoe.  We were KILLING in the first half.  At the half, we were up 2-0.  This game was OURS!  Yeah, not so much.  They came cack with their first goal with ten minutes left in the game.  Then made it 2-2 within a couple of minutes.  But they didn't stop there.  At the end of the game, they won 5-2.  It was a disaster.  I was so disappointed.  We had NO excuses.  The ref was awesome, the game was clean.  We just didn't play well.  Plain and simple.  That sucks.

We packed up and headed back to the hotel.

The kids wanted to go back in the pool so they hung out while the adults prepared the food for the BBQ.  At 9:00, we were sucking back wine, beer, spidducci, ribs, sausages, hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, etc.  We had a few laughs and I was feeling better about the terrible losses.  We have a great set of parents on this team and we soon forgot the disappointment and just had fun.

We finally had to call the kids in from playing soccer in the undergroud parking at 11:30 and we were asleep by midnight.

Sunday morning was McDonalds for breakfast, then a swim in the pool and a bbq with the leftover meats before heading home to the piles of laundry and grocery shopping that awaited.  Hubster, bless his heart, did all the laundry while I got the groceries, made dinner and did a general tidy up.

After I ironed all of Boy Oneder's school uniforms, we watched the Italy vs Spain soccer game that we had listened to on the radio.  We then watched last week's episode of AGT.  I fell asleep halfway through and dragged my butt to bed.  I was SPENT.  I took Threepeat with me and we were both out cold within minutes.  I woke up at 7:00 this morning feeling like I hadn't slept at all, even though I slept soundly all night.  I was really, REALLY tired I guess.

So that's our disappointing, yet fun weekend.  Pin It

That was nice of you to go to support the team even though he couldn't play.

Hope you have a great week!
