Cooking class

Yesterday was day one of my level 1 recreational cooking classes, which run for 4 weeks. After level 1, I move on to level 2 for 4 weeks.

We learned to completely debone a whole chicken and worked with the breasts to make patties, which were delicious!!! We also made sauteed asparagus and rustic potatoes, which, again, were AMAZING!

I learned so much and loved every second of the class...the three hours FLEW by!!

Next week, I will remember to take my camera so I can share my masterpieces with you!! Pin It

Tomorrow night, I start my cooking lessons!!! I am SOOOO pumped!

Although Hubster will have to be in two places at the same time with Boy Oneder and Middleman having soccer and hockey games at the same time, I NEED to do this.

I simply cannot wait. I hope to share what I learn here, so stay tuned!

So much more is going on, but I have to keep it to myself for now...suffice it to say that I need your prayers...please? Pin It

Chef Dawn...

I like the sound of that.

So, I am doing something about it!

I am going back to college to get my culinary diploma!!

I met with the school's administrator today (it's a private school and you have to be interviewed to be accepted) and I loved her. I loved the school and I loved the Master Chef (he didn't yell or swear at his students like my hero, Chef Ramsay though) LOL.

My journey will begin on June 27th when I take the recreational cooking course on Monday evenings from 6:00 to 10:00...it is only for four weeks, but it will give me an idea on whether I want to continue the journey in September, when I would attend on Thursday nights from 6:00 to 10:00. This course will be the practical (hands on) part of the diploma and then next year, I would take the theoretical side on Tuesday nights. I could do both at the same time, but I don't want to overdo it and with three boys to chauffeur from hockey to soccer to doctor's appointments, etc., I think I would be overstretching myself.

So, I am pumped! I love to cook and I would love to be able to hang a diploma on my wall! I left high school and went straight to work, so the accomplishment of receiving a diploma would be the icing on the cake (excuse the pun!) This whole concept was born from a need for me to have more "Dawn Time". I thought about a yoga class or a pottery class, but I know I would end up going once or twice and then quitting. Cooking is something I love and enjoy. I will learn some cool techniques that I can use at home as well...it's an all 'round good thing!

YAY ME! Pin It

Today is day 1 of a 12 day, DESPERATELY needed vacation.

I am typing this post from my back deck, sipping on a Bud Light Lime, listening to Boom 97.3 and enjoying the sunshine, which is fighting hard to stay, although the clouds are getting pretty aggressive. The big yellow ball will soon be gone for a few days. Sigh...

I have no big plans for my 12 days off, but I AM taking the train to Ottawa on Wednesday to visit my dear friend, Tracy, for a couple of days. I come back home on Friday.

I had a pedi today and vegged out.

Oh MAN I love time off!!! Pin It
