(Insert loud and dramatic sigh here)

Today was day 6 of full day, Monday, Wednesday, Friday preschool for Threepeat.

Today was the first day that he actually cried. Thank God I wasn't there. Hubster dropped him off.

Apparently, he had to be pried from Daddy's arms, crying heavily, as the teacher carried him over to the circle.

I just called the school and he is fine now, after a chat with Miss N about sleep time. He asked her if he had to sleep and she said no. He asked her if she would stay with him at naptime and she said yes. She told him she would do a puzzle with him while the other kids slept. He stopped crying.

Sigh...

My heart aches. I *KNOW* he loves the school, especially Wednesdays because today is water day and he plays with water tables and cups outside...he loves it. I *KNOW* that he is much happier playing with other kids than sitting nearly comatose in front of the television with Nanna all day. I *KNOW* that he will eventually stop crying at drop off and that he will trot off happily to join his class...but why can't eventually be NOW?

I always pitied the other parents whose kids cried every morning. Now, I am the one who needs pity.

Sigh... Pin It

Aww! I hope it gets better soon, I feel like I will be in your boat soon with both of mine, Becca more so... She and Jake will be at different schools all together and she is pretty attached to her brother. ((Dawn)) The day is going to come where he races out of your arms to play with the other kids without stopping for a hug or kiss..

Is it possible that even though he likes to play with other kids, that he isn't ready to be there full days?

The entire problem is with the sleep time. He HATES being made to stay still. He loves the toys, the kids, the teachers, the food, the activities, the songs...he tells me all about them when he gets home each day. It's just the rest time. The teacher told me she will sit with him for the entire time again today like she did on Monday and will continue to do so until he settles in. She also told me that this is VERY normal...the kids hate the rest time at first. So Kate, I think he is totally ready for full days, just not the napping! LOL

Maybe its just me but if its very normal for kids to be THAT upset about rest time...wouldn't you think maybe they'd reevaluate rest time, at least a little? Like maybe not make it so long or something? I know some kids that age really do need their rest but you'd think they could come up with a way to give that to the kids who need it without torturing the ones that don't.

Maybe I could take his rest time for him. I'm that nice.
