I got my hair did!

I took my lunch hour today and had my hair coloured. It was WAY overdue and I had about an inch and a half of brown roots mixed in with gray (UGH). I decided that instead of the usual blondish base with lowlights and highlights mixed in, I would opt for one colour...and darker. I also had Mary dry it straight and then curl it with a big curling iron and...

Here's what it looks like...excuse the lack of makeup.

I think I like it. What do you think?

In the blink of an eye...

In a split second, in literally, the blink of an eye, everything can change.

A co-worker of mine lost her husband suddenly on Monday night. I don't know the details...I only know he was 38 years young.

In a split second, her life is completely different. She has lost her soulmate. She has lost her husband. She has lost the father of her children. She is a widow. She is alone.

I haven't stopped thinking about her all day. I can't even FATHOM losing Joe. It makes me feel sick to think of it.

My heart and prayers are with you and your family Marnie. Take care of yourself. I am so, so sorry.

Monday Mumbers

Yes folks, it's time for Kia's Monday Mumbers again. Gosh, I hate Mondays.

24,530 - The number of calories I think I have consumed today.

101.9 - Frankie's temperature when he went to bed tonight.

4,562 - The approximate number of istock photos I went through tonight.

5 - The number of istock photos I finally picked for my new blog header.

7,521 - The approximate number of digiscrap kits I looked at tonight.

1 - The number of digiscrap kits I chose for my new blog layout.

12 - The number of times I cursed whilst perusing said istock photos and digiscrap kits.

7 - The number of days, so far, that I have been bleeding to death.

15 - The number of towels I ordered online from Sears today.

2 - The number of client appointments I have tomorrow...each one on opposite sides of the City.

Follow Friday

Yeah, yeah, I know it's Saturday, but what the heck...better late than never.

My Follow-Worthy blog of the week is Limey Girl.

Karen and I "met" by chance when she happened upon my blog. If I had an hour, I would explain exactly how, but since it's such a long story and I have very little time, suffice it to say that it was fate.

Anyhoo...

Karen is talented, busy, funny, did I mentioned talented? and interesting.

We have so much in common that it's almost scary. Honestly.

We have only gotten together three times in real life, but somehow, I just know I can count on her if ever I need her.

She is a great blogger and a fantastic friend.

Go give her some bloggy love!

Karen...grab your button above and let your blog wear it with pride...you deserve it...and MORE!

P.S.

Nicholas is sleeping at Alexander's house tonight (a neighbour).

It just dawned on me that this is his first ever sleepover, besides Grandma and Auntie Joanne (when she was alive).

I wonder how it will go...hmmm...

Give me hockey or give me death

Kind of a dramatic title, but it's not far off the mark.

As I type this post, Frankie is at a single "A" hockey tryout with Joe.

Frankie is absolutely convinced that he MUST.PLAY.REP.HOCKEY. Grrrr.

I love houseleague hockey. No body contact and only two days per week committment. Single "A" hockey requires a 4 day a week committment with the added pleasure of watching my child get smashed into the boards several times per game. Oh jot, oh bliss. NOT.

At 2:00 this morning, Frankie woke me up because he "didn't feel very good". A quick check of his temperature showed that 103 degrees is not a fun place for your body temperature to be. He continued coming into my room until 4:38 am, when I assume he was finally able to fall asleep. Needless to say, as a courtesy to all other parents at his school, I left him sleeping soundly at school time.

This afternoon, he felt like death, but pretended to feel good so that I wouldn't stop him from going to the tryout. He absolutely HAD to go to this tryout tonight. UGH.

It's 10:06 pm and I *just* heard the chimes of the alarm go off as he has walked in the door...

He didn't make it.

It's now 10:33 and I spent the last 20 minutes or so having a heart to heart, God knows best convo with him. I think he got it.

Amen.

Murphy's Law

Whatever can go wrong, WILL go wrong. Man oh man people...this is the week from hell!

Seriously.

Joe got sick.
Frankie got sick.
I messed up a client's database with a stupid mistake.
I messed up a SECOND client's database with the SAME stupid mistake.
Rosie ripped all the ligaments AND cartiledge (sp?) in her right knee. Oh yes, your read that right. Remember her accident in April of 2007? Yeah...that was her LEFT knee. Now she's a complete cripple.
I got my period.
I have a pimple on my nose.
There is no tool to import my wordpress blog to this one, so I have been cutting and pasting each one, one by freaking one. I am up to May, 2006. People...do you have ANY idea how much cutting and pasting I still have to do? Crap.

ARGH!

Calgon, TAKE ME AWAY!

Random ramblings

Rosie hurt her leg. Remember when she hurt her leg last time?

Yeah, well, that was her left leg. Yesterday, she hurt her right leg. I was at a client's office, so I have no idea how, but MIL and Frankie said she was yelping at the door after they let her out to the backyard for a pee and then started hopping.

She's still hopping today. :o(

She is due for her heartworm test anyway, so I made an appointment with the vet for tomorrow night. I hope she'll be OK.

Frankie is still sick...so is Joe. Joe's on the mend, but still not right.

Nicholas participated in the Battle of the Books semi-finals tonight with 6 other team mates from his school. They have been reading, praticing, reading, studying, reading, re-reading, reading and dicsussing and reading for months in preparation. They lost miserably tonight. He was devastated. Poor dude.

I got some really cute video of Julian playing Rock Band with his brothers tonight...too funny. He was singing "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi...too cute. I will post it tomorrow.

I am swamped at work. Trying to keep my head above water...I see the light at the end of the tunnel, but getting there is hard work man!

I made ribs in the crock pot for dinner...yeah, I kinda rock like that...they were deeeeelish.

Anyhoo...a little blue pill is calling my name (No, not THAT little blue pill! What is WITH you people??!! I am talking about a sleeping pill...my montly BFF...it's been a month since my last soiree with said little blue pill, so tonight, we have a date), so I am off to bed.

I have switched teams

Go Team Werewolf!

Oh to be 15 years old again! SWOOOOON!

I know...he's like, 13 years old, but hubba! hubba!!

Another casualty

Add Frankie to the flu list.

I got a phone call at 10:50 this morning...Frankie said he didn't feel well and wanted to come home. He got home at 11:00 and looked awful.

Within half an hour, his temperature went from 99.1 to 102.7. Sigh.

I gave him Advil, made him a hot tea and covered him with the electric blanket (he had the chills) with strict instructions to remove the blanket as soon as he felt warmer. He spent the afternoon in bed, feeling better only when the Advil/Tylenol kicked in. He's upstairs in bed right now, complaining of aches in his neck and shoulders and a bad headache. My poor little man.

I am just praying that Jules, Nick, MIL and I are spared.

More on lots of other miscellaneous stuff later. I've got lots to say, but need to tend to Julian, who is currently scooping all of the chip dip out of his bowl and eating it with no chips. Sigh.

My husband is a SICKO

No, no, no...not THAT kind of sicko.

He has been in bed for three days (NO, not for THAT reason) UGH...maybe YOU are the sicko.

Anyhoo...

He started feeling "off" on Friday night. Nothing major, just not right. Saturday was the same...just blah.

Sunday morning, Jules' birthday party day, he felt really bad in the morning. He took two Advils and suffered through the party...what a trooper. He even took Nicholas to buy some running shoes after the party. By the time he got home at about 2:00, he looked like death. He went straight to bed. He got up at about 6:30 for half an hour, but suffered the whole time, so he went back to bed at 7:00. I drove over to the drug store to get him some Tylenol Flu and I didn't see him again until I got home from mu client's office yesterday afternoon. He was still in bed. His fever was 103 and change and he really did look awful.

Fast forward to this afternoon and he was getting worse. I checked his temperature and it was 103.9. That was at 3:30. I immediately called the doctor and got him in for a 5:00 appointment. The doctor examined him and everything checked out ok, but because it had been three days of a high fever, he ordered a blood and urine test. We went down to the lab right away, so we should have results by Thursday at the latest. So, he either has a virus or some kind of bacterial infection that is not obvious...UTI or prostate gland infection. The cultures will tell.

Until then, he is suffering through chills, cold sweats, fever, aches, headache, fatigue and just plain rotten-ness. Poor dude.

And I not only laugh, but encourage him to sing it even more. Shame on me.

My Follow-Worthy Blog choice of the week

This week, being week one of Follow Fridays, I would like to nominate Kia of Good Enough Mama for my Follow-Worthy Blog.

Kia is mom to a terrific little man called, well, Little Man. She writes about his AND her struggles with his OCD, SPD and every day craziness that she so gracefully endures. She makes me laugh, she teaches me cool stuff, she makes me realize that none of us are perfect mothers and she makes me strive to be a better blogger.

Kia is such a wonderful person and I am so glad I *met* her. I WILL meet her in real life one day...I swear.

Congrats Kia. Grab your button from my post before this one and be proud.

Look what *I* got!!!

My dear online friend, Angie, gave me this award today:

YAY ME!

Thanks so much Angie!!! I am going to name a Follow Worthy Blog later too...could it be YOU?

Thanks again Ang!

Special prayers for MckMuffin

Little Stellan is about to embark on a whole new leg of his long journey. They have just been transferred to Boston and it's looking like he is going to undergo some pretty risky surgery to correct his SVT and he and his family could sure use some prayers. MckMamma is in Boston with Stellan, while her Prince Charming stays at home with their three other children, Big Mac, MckNugget and Small Fry. My heart just aches for all of them.

I cannot even BEGIN to imagine what his mom, MckMamma is going through. The pain in my heart is as strong as if I knew her.

She has such strong faith and believes that God is with her and Stellan every step of the way. She also believes in the power of prayer, just like me.

If you pray, please pray hard for this little man. If you're not the praying kind, would you spare a positive thought or two today?

Thanks.

O.M.G.

Did you know that "almost 13 year olds" know EVERYTHING?

Did you know that, according to my "almost 13 year old", reading is not necessary for a university education?

Did you know that my "almost 13 year old" is going to be an engineer because he is so advanced in math?

Did you know that high school is where my "almost 13 year old" thinks that university prep begins?

Did you know that if your parents piss you off, my "almost 13 year old" feels that he could leave and live on his own?

And finally, did you know that according to my "almost 13 year old", I am the WORST mother in the world?

Yeah...me neither.
