Simmering Sunday...

Pineapple Princess, over at The Love Shack shared a fantastic recipe today (along with a really cute play-by-play) and she asked for some recipes, so here is one of mine:

Dawn's Chili:

2 lbs extra lean ground beef, cooked and drained of any fat
1 large can of whole tomatoes
1 large can of diced tomatoes
1 medium onion
1 clove of fresh garlic,diced
2 cans of sliced mushrooms
2 large cans of red kidney beans
1 large can of white kidney beans
1 green pepper, chopped into small squares
1/4 cup of red wine
5 - 10 tbsp chili powder
dash salt and pepper

Throw all ingredients into a large crockpot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Add extra chili powder through the cooking process if desired. Serve with shredded lettuce and grated cheddar cheese and sour cream. And don't forget the yummy crusty bread to dip!! Mmmm! DEEEEELISH!

Although I am not making chili tonight (I bought a beautiful prime rib for dinner tonight), this chili ROCKS on a cold winter day and it's nice to be able to throw it all into the crockpot in the morning and have it ready to serve when you get home from work!! Pin It
